St. Luke Foundation kicked off a public fundraiser April 21 when it announced it had $510,944 in pledges toward its goal of $2 million for remodeling St. Luke Hospital.

The stars of “American Pickers,” Mike Wolf and Frank Fritz, were in Marion April 15 to film a segment of that popular television show. They filmed a segment of the show at the storage building owned by business owners Marion Ogden and Dennis Maggard of Bearly Makin’ It antiques store.

Marion High School students Nick Klenda and Julia Zeiner set school records Friday at the Conrad Nightingale Invitational in Halstead. Klenda set a MHS school and a meet record in the discus with a throw of 182’10”. Julia set a school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.78.

The 14th annual Chingawassa Days will be June 4, 5, and 6 in Marion’s Central Park. The festival will be capped off June 5 when local favorite and national recording artist, 38 Special, performs.
