The National Bank is having phones installed in the lobby for the public. Any who desire are welcome to make use of these phones. It’s a commendable piece of public service.

Perhaps a hundred town boosters from Woodbine, in 25 cars, were here yesterday on a sociability run. They were a live bunch of folks. They took dinner here and met a lot of businessmen and others. That’s the sort of spirit that makes a town. Here’s to you, Woodbine.

Superintendent C.E. St. John of our city schools is to be assistant superintendent of public instruction. State superintendent W.D. Ross announced the appointment Monday. It is to become effective July 1. There is no doubt he will make good in this important job, for he is one of the best school men in the state.

There will be a candy sale Saturday afternoon at Scott’s Hardware Store by members of Miss Ely’s Sunday School class. Articles of fancy work also will be offered for sale.

A minstrel show that some of the young people of the town put on last Friday evening for the benefit of the baseball team drew and pleased a great crowd. The show was worked up under the direction of Harry Rogers. More than $78 was turned over to the baseball management.
