Our readers, we know, are greatly interested in the progress of work on the sugar factory in process of erection.

Material is on the ground and work is progressing as rapidly as possible. The building is being constructed of stone, John Nelson having the contract.

Messrs. Rugg and Fox, the proprietors, are also erecting comfortable residences on the capacious grounds donated them by the city.

Mr. R. Calhoun has moved his boot and shoe shop into his new quarters, between Costello’s Store and the Banner office.

A gentle and refreshing shower fell here nearly all day Wednesday. Now vegetation will boom. Our people trudged around in the mud Wednesday with real delight.

Died, in Marion Centre, Kansas, Saturday night, April 24th, 1880, Mrs. Mary Margaret Case, wife of Mr. A.E. Case, of this city.

The petition praying Congress to grant right of way to the A.T. & S.F. Railroad Company for the construction of a railroad through the Indian Territory, was largely signed in Marion Centre, as is should have been.

It is said that Mr. J.D. Morgan is contemplating the starting of a daily paper in Florence.
