157 attend Florence alumni banquet

More than a hundred alumni gathered at the 118th Florence alumni banquet on May 24.

The 157 attendees represented classes from 1943 through 2014 with special recognition of classes from 1944, 1949, 1954, 1959, 1964, 1969, and 1989.

Students, guests, and teachers traveled from 12 states ranging from Texas to North Dakota, and California to Virginia. Twenty-two alumni from Florence and 13 from Marion were also present.

Mike Robinson of the class of 1967 was the master of ceremonies. Elizabeth Goentzel, recipient of the 2013 scholarship, spoke about attending college at Fort Hays State University.

The $1,000 scholarship for 2014 was also awarded to Lauren McLinden.

Next year’s banquet will be on May 23.
