2 Warriors injured at senior night

Staff writer

Peabody-Burns celebrated senior night at Friday’s game, however two seniors weren’t celebrating the injuries they sustained during the game.

“We lost some key guys tonight,” head coach David Pickens said, “and our hearts are with them.”

Cody Partridge was taken away on a stretcher and in a neck brace during the first few minutes of the first quarter, while senior captain Brandon Entz suffered a leg injury.

“We don’t know for sure (what the injury is),” Pickens said, “but it puffed up so much, he’s probably going to have to have it drained.”

The first touchdown of the evening was by the Bearcats with 6:45 left in the first quarter. The score was 8-0 after a successful two-point conversion. The Warriors fought off the Bearcats for the rest of the first quarter, leaving the score 8-0.

In the second quarter, the Bearcats scored another four touchdowns, bringing the score up to 36-0.

After the start of the third quarter, Penner and Markus Knight both tackled the runner at the 23-yard line.

With 5:37 left in the third quarter, the Bearcats scored the last touchdown of the evening, ending the game with a score of 48-0.

“Tonight we ran into a very good football team and we knew they were going to be good,” Pickens said. “I’ve been watching that team grow over the last two years, and the guys that were young when we were beating them up grew up, and now they are a heck of a football team.”

Peabody-Burns will play Lebo away on Thursday, a team that Pickens said is a lot like the Warriors.

“Lebo is like us, who’s just struggling to get a winning season,” Pickens said. “It should be a great matchup at Lebo. We are going to go down there, play our hearts out, and see if we can get our fifth win.”
