City workmen Godfrey Beisel, Ruben Winter, and Clarence Baxter, along with Ralph Matthews operating the truck, are busy putting in place the first steel poles in the new lighting program for business areas of the city.

Moderate weather during the past week over Marion County and in most parts of the state made field work possible and preparation of ground for spring crops become more general.

The Seymour Packing Company this week has announced the addition of Pettit & Reed, Inc. of New York City to their eastern distribution system. This addition will be felt locally in wider distribution and increased demand for poultry and eggs produced in this vicinity, the report stated.

City Clerk Fred Allen and other city officials got a worry off their mind when specialists from Wichita got the vault door at the city building open late Tuesday night. It had resisted the efforts of everyone in the community, who had ever worked with a balky safe door, since Friday noon when Fred slammed it shut to go home to lunch.

Foundation work is progressing rapidly on the 13 new homes being built by Riddle Quarries on S. Cedar St. The eight houses on the east side of the street have been purchased by Noel Morgan, Earl Janzen, Robert Kelsey, Joe Childs, Fred Allen, Herbert Meier, Paul Minear, and Donald King. The five on the west side by Ralph Rogers, Lysle Russell, C.A. Berkhiser, Fred Wooldridge Sr., and Fred Wooldridge.
