Attention of many, both locally and statewide, is on a new type of road rock application in Marion County.
Riddle Quarries Inc. of Marion is pictured spreading a film of calcium chloride on a test stretch of road already covered and spread with rock.
Marjorie Collett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Collett, and Doris Meredith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meredith, have been selected to attend Girls State in June in Manhattan.
The Blind Department of the State Welfare Department soon will put into Marion a small popcorn and candy stand to be operated by Everett Burkhead, young blind man now living at the county home.
A column of news from the high school reports that the junior class enjoyed a hayrack ride and picnic May 2 at the Carpenter dam south of Marion; the sophomore class had a hayrack ride to Rainbow Mountain for a picnic May 2; and the freshman class had a hayrack ride to the Collett home for a wiener roast.
An all-school party was May 4 at the county lake. Supper was at 6:30 followed by a dance and program in the barracks at 8.
