While traveling west, David L. Horton, 42, 405 E. First St., Hillsboro, slid in his 2000 Dodge Durango on the ice-covered street at a bend in the road and struck Warren Andrew Priel, 65, 218 S, Main St., Hillsboro, who was traveling the opposite direction in his 1995 Honda Accord. Police said they contacted Hillsboro ambulance to check on the condition of a passenger in Priel’s car but no transport was made. Priel’s vehicle also had to be towed from the scene.

A wind gust on ice and snow pushed Ryan Christopher Skinner, 24, of 25 Regal Crescent St., North Newton, into the ditch in a 2008 Chevrolet registered to Newton USD 373, 100 S. Evans St., Newton, at 8:45 a.m. Feb. 20. There were three adult passengers in the vehicle, but police reported no injuries.
