According to accident reports released Monday:

SHERIFF

Intersection of 180th and Eagle Rds.

Weston Giesbrecht, 19, Hillsboro, was traveling eastbound on 180th Rd. in a 1991 Ford Ranger, driving in the westbound lane at 5:50 p.m. March 5 when the vehicle struck a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Juan Roman-Castro, 26, Hillsboro, as Roman-Castro turned right onto 180th Rd. to travel west. Sheriff’s deputy Bronson Shipman cited Giesbrecht for allegedly driving in the wrong lane. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene.

Intersection of US-56 and 280th Rd.

Michelle Knepp, 35, Lincolnville, was attempting to turn right from US-56 onto 280th Rd. when her 2003 Ford F250 was struck from behind by a 2005 Freightliner semi trailer driven by Glen Ensz, 49, Hillsboro at 4:35 p.m. March 11. Sheriff’s deputy Mike Ottensmeier reported Ensz attempted to avoid the accident by passing on the shoulder, and cited him for unsafe passing on the right. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene.

K-150 east of Wagonwheel Rd.

A 1995 Toyota Camry driven by Bernadino Lopez, 53, Emporia, caught on fire as he was westbound on K-150 at 5:30 a.m. March 6. Sheriff’s deputy Wilma Mueller reported the vehicle was destroyed and towed from the scene.

K-15 south of 150th Rd.

Dennis Bott, 67, Palmer, struck a deer with his 1995 International 9400 semi trailer at 10:10 a.m. Thursday.

He drove the vehicle from the scene.

US-50 west of Sunflower Rd.

A westbound 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Paul Masterson, 53, Wichita, crossed the center line of US-50 and struck the trailer of a 2010 Freightliner semi trailer driven by Vladmir Tkhorenko, 36, Los Angeles, at 2 p.m. March 7. Sheriff’s deputy Travis Wilson reported Masterson stated he fell asleep, and that Tkhorenko drove onto the eastbound shoulder in an attempt to avoid the accident. The Mitsubishi was towed from the scene, and the semi trailer was driven away.

While driving a 2011 Lincoln SUV, Evelyn Kessler, 79, of Hillsboro rolled backward into a 2005 Dodge Stratus driven by Heather Parker, 35, of Hutchinson, owned by Joshua Metz, also of Hutchinson, at 5:35 p.m. March 15. In police reports, Kessler said Metz was too close and when she shifted from park to drive her Lincoln rolled back into the Dodge. Metz claimed she was not very close and stated that she honked her horn once she noticed Kessler rolling toward her.
