Adolph Holub

Adolph Mathias “Ed” Holub, 73, of Wamego died March 17 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka after a brief illness. He was born July 4, 1940, in Marion to Louis and Mary (Tajchman) Holub.

He was raised on the family farm near Tampa. When he was 9, he was stricken with polio, which left him wheelchair dependent.

He graduated from Tampa High School in 1958 and received a bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University. He taught one year at Kingman. In 1964 he was hired as an accountant for the physics department at Kansas State University, a job he held until retirement in 1995.

He married Judith (Stirton) Moman on June 9, 1984.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends, watching old westerns, reading, and leather tooling and sketching portraits of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald Holub.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; four stepsons, Randy Moman, Ron Moman, Doug Moman, and Danny Moman; four sisters, Rose Mary Brasil, Kathryn Walker, Marian Holub, and Maureen Holub; and three step grandchildren.

A rosary was at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion. Funeral Mass was Saturday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Wamego. Interment was in Pilsen Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with the St. Bernard Altar Society and the Fr. Kapaun Fund.
