Community Foundation reception Nov. 14

Peabody Community Foundation is inviting Peabody residents to attend a casual “come, graze, and go” reception from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 at the Prescott House Bed and Breakfast.

Peabody Historical Society will cater the event, assisted by Peabody-Burns High School students.

Local artists will provide entertainment during the evening.

“We hope people will come and visit with our board members and find out about the PCF and the kind of projects we support and promote in the community,” foundation President N.M. Patton said. “We are getting ready to disburse funds in another round of grants to community non-profit groups and we will have applications available at the reception.”

There is no charge to attend, but Patton said the foundation would appreciate reservations by Nov. 7 from those who plan to be there, so enough food can be prepared.

Reservations can be made with Brad Nightengale at (620) 983-2181 or by email to brad@peabodystatebank.com.

Grant applications for community projects available

Peabody Community Foundation is ready to open the application process for the 2014 round of grants to local non-profit groups.

Applications will be available at the reception or from Peabody State Bank, USD 398 Central Office, or Peabody City building.

The due date for completed applications is Jan. 22 with awards being made Feb. 8 at the annual PCF Pancake Day breakfast.

“We want to remind those who received grants in 2013, to be sure and get their documentation of how the funds were used in to the PCF board right away,” Patton said. “The documentation is necessary to be considered for another grant.”

Applications should be for a project specific to the Peabody community with funds helping to enhance the community and improve the quality of life.

“We hope local groups will look at their future plans and think about making an application for grant funding,” Patton said. “Even if they have applied before and not been a grant recipient, they should try again.”
