Council reviews insurance

Staff writer

Peabody City Council met briefly Monday evening to review insurance quotes and information about replacing the city’s copier and computer server.

After comparison of equal quotes from the city’s current agent, Hilger Insurance of Harper, and W.E. Avery Insurance of Peabody, the council decided to remain with Hilger Insurance for another year.

City administrator Mac Manning provided price quotes from Konica-Minolta and Xerox on copiers and service programs offered by each company. Manning will compare service program costs of each company based on the volume of copies generated in the city office and present those figures at the next meeting.

Manning presented information about increases in server fees and the lack of prompt response to problems with city computers by Heartland Technology, the city’s current provider. After discussion, he agreed to seek additional bids and service proposals for the council’s consideration at the next meeting.

The next council meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 31.
