County commissioners exchange roles

Staff writer

County commissioners did not have much business to tend to Monday but made a small change of their own, rotating responsibilities. Roger Fleming became the new chairman and Dan Holub became the vice chairman.

“I felt no pressure today,” former chairman Randy Dallke joked. “I’m a no-nothing commissioner now.”

The commission will meet again Tuesday.

In other business:

  • Commissioners re-designated the Marion County Record the official newspaper for the county, with contractual rates for republication of all notices in the Hillsboro Star-Journal and Peabody Gazette-Bulletin remaining the same.
  • The road and bridge department has a conference with the city of Marion scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday to discuss repairing Fourth and Williams Sts. in Marion.
  • Commissioners signed contract sheets for appraiser Ray Cook, for $4,583 per month; election clerk Tena Lundgren, for $1,804 per month; and communications department employee Maria Bell, for $11 per hour. All three are new employees.
