County fair announces carnival, parade move

After not having a carnival in 2013, the Marion County Fair will once again have a carnival this summer.

Fun Time Shows, a carnival based out of southeast Missouri, will be at the fair, fair association manager Kelli Savage said last week. According to its website, Fun Time Shows has been operated by the same family since the 1970s.

The fair has also moved the parade from its traditional Wednesday evening time slot to 10 a.m. July 26, a Saturday. It is one of several events that will be on the Saturday of the fair this year, along with a 5-kilometer run/walk, tractor show, big truck and equipment display, goat milking contest, petting zoo, turtle races, and 4-H livestock champion showcase.

The fair will also include its usual rodeo, children’s pedal pull, antique tractor pull, demolition derby, and 4-H and open class exhibits.
