The history of creation is awe-inspiring. The creation of light, the firmament, seas and dry land, plants, sun, moon, stars, fish and birds, and land animals. Then He topped it off by creating human beings. Wonder after wonder after wonder as almighty God changed nothingness into something, then took that something and transformed it into Earth and all its trimmings.
But He wasn’t done. Perhaps, in all of the wonders of God’s creation, there is nothing so amazing as the creative work God has done billions of times since the Garden of Eden. He took a woman and transformed her into one of the most powerful — and beautiful — forces in the world: a mother. In a way it’s a double miracle: God changes a woman into a mother when He creates a child in her womb. New life brings a new reality.
“For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;” (Psalm 139: 13-14a).
May the honor of motherhood always be championed and respected. Mothers truly are examples of God’s continuing creative power.
