A few weeks ago a strange bird appeared in the trees in the McGaugh yard in east Peabody. The large, very colorful bird was coaxed down by neighbors and “taken into custody”, according to Kathy Winter, who wound up with the feathered beauty. The bird was identified as a macaw, a very valuable tropical bird and was obviously a tame bird lost from its owner. Efforts were made to find the owner and they were successful with surprising results. The bird belonged to Dick Thrash of Burrton, a former resident of Peabody.
