Stacey Parks is the new Speech/Language Pathologist for the Peabody Burns district.

On Oct. 1, more than 100 students in grades kindergarten through third at Peabody Elementary boarded two buses and traveled to the Pumpkin Patch south of Burns.

OCT. 4, 1984

A few weeks ago a strange bird appeared in the trees in the McGaugh yard in east Peabody. The large, very colorful bird was coaxed down by neighbors and “taken into custody”, according to Kathy Winter, who wound up with the feathered beauty. The bird was identified as a macaw, a very valuable tropical bird and was obviously a tame bird lost from its owner. Efforts were made to find the owner and they were successful with surprising results. The bird belonged to Dick Thrash of Burrton, a former resident of Peabody.

Mrs. Gladys Mann returned Sept. 29 from a 12 day tour of the northwest with the Sunflower Tours of Hillsboro Senior Center.

Oct. 8, 1959

Roger White, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen A. White, has again been chosen to be a member of the Varsity Chorale at Hesston college.

The new 1960 Plymoth will be on Display here in Peabody at the Temple Motor Company, W.H.Temple says.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Murray and children, Harold and Nancy, of Wichita, visited friends in Peabody, Saturday.

Oct. 7, 1909

Miss Anna V. Loose and Mrs. Geo. E. Morgan are back from Colorado.

Born, Oct. 6, to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jordan at the Palisade — a son: Robert Lincoln.

Bert Jolliffe went to Coffeyville last Friday.

Oct. 2, 1884

Tobacco is used as a cure for hog cholera. De. Smith purchased a nice pony. School district #85, Butler, County, has received a lot of new desks.
