The 8th Kansas Infantry Civil War re-enactment group will sponsor a winter dance at 7 p.m. Jan. 24 in the multipurpose room at Peabody Elementary School
Gladys Jewell and Sade Decker are pictured working on a quilt at Peabody Senior Center. The women are part of a group who enjoy the intricate art.
Early day club documents were discussed during the January meeting of Peabody History Club at the home of Jean Smith. Events for the open house for the club’s 100 anniversary in October 2004 were discussed.

Peabody High School speakers made a good showing in an FFA competition Jan. 22 in El Dorado their sponsor, Gary Jones, reports.
Becky Ediger, a 1970 Peabody High School graduate and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milford Ediger of rural Peabody, was recently in charge of the inaugural parade security.
The program at the senior center last week was given by Nellie Bentz, who displayed and discussed her stamps, which she has collected since 1922.

Mary Lou Nellans and Rita Hansen were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Albright at Dodge City.
Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Sheridan are in Fort Pierre, S.D., called there to be with their daughter, Mrs. Sam Wright, who is quite ill.
W.E. Schaefer died unexpectedly Jan. 16 at his home in Springfield, Ohio. He was known here over the years as he visited with his wife, Henrietta Schroeder Schaefer, at the home of her sister, Lucille Schroeder.

Henry Pauls from Hillsboro was here the first of the week, candling a shipment of eggs for a produce house in Hillsboro.
