Candidates for Peabody-Burns High School winter homecoming queen are Dalli Jo Hammond, Marie Unruh, and Shannon Welch. The candidates for king are Job Hilliard, Jeconiah Spangler, and Michael Unruh.
Andrea Jones was among students from all over the United States selected for a special mission. She will train for several weeks in California, and then may be sent to mission fields in Mexico.
Peabody-Burns High School vocalists in the group “Voices” will deliver singing Valentines Feb. 13.

Walter B. Slocombe, son of John W. Slocombe, Peabody, has been promoted in the United States Air Force to major.

Korbin Johnston is one of the Kansas State Teachers College students who have pledged Sigma Phi Epsilon, according to word from the college.
Steve Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Davis, is making a satisfactory improvement at Halstead Hospital.
Alfred Louis Larsen was born near Burns on Dec. 13, 1886, to James and Annie Hansen Larsen and passed away at his home near Peabody on Jan. 31, 1964 at the age of 77 years.

The council allowed the usual bills, rejecting one from the Light Company for $6.40 for changing wires when the old library was removed. This is because the franchise ordinance requires it to be done for free.

While Bert Brindley was going to his home west of town last Friday, his horse fell and Bert had his leg broken in two places. It was a bad accident, but he is getting along nicely.
