Peabody Police Chief Jeff Pohlman was called March 12 to the Chad Dameron residence at 5th St. and Sycamore St. where family members saw a skunk in daylight. It was killed, sent to the lab for testing, and found positive for rabies.

Lance Koslowsky cut a yellow ribbon from the tree at the First Baptist Church in Peabody where it had been tied in his honor. He returned home from Iraq on March 6.

Caleb Good of Peabody-Burns High School was one of 19 senior boy basketball standouts who participated Saturday in the 21st annual All-Star game in the sports center at McPherson College.

Harland Priddle, Kansas Department of Commerce Secretary, will be one of two guest speakers at the April 15 dinner to celebrate Peabody’s selection as a Main Street City.

Don Gillet, who was seriously injured in a fall at “the Ranch” a few weeks ago, was released from the hospital and came home last week.

Laurie Miles, Peabody’s high scoring guard, was named to the all-league team, of course.

Supt. Robert Schmidt and Principal Don Martin have both signed contracts to return to the Peabody school system for another year.

The Peabody PTA enjoyed Mrs. Wilma Stallwitz, who directed the Peabody Singers and Dancers in another of their outstanding musicals.

W.E. Avery was elected president of the Peabody Golf Association Friday night at the meeting of that organization.

Mr. William Skinner, who had been residing on the old Grant Holler farm, ¾ of a mile west of Peabody, was taken with a paralytic stroke last Wednesday and after a three-day struggle for relief, passed on to the higher life.

Miss Bernice Heath had as her weekend guest, the Misses Carmen McKercher and Marion Westbook. They report a very good time and vote Miss Bernice a capital hostess.

The public library has been closed for several days while the interior was being repainted, but is open again as usual, and much improved in appearance.

B.H. Wilcox has been suffering a great deal lately from inflammation of the head.

The county school fund was recently enriched by over $600 on the account of a bond given by William Flaising of Lincolnville, when arrested for selling whiskey and forfeited by his non-appearance. It amounts to about 20 cents for each pupil in the county.
