Buffalo Gulch Ranchouse, a new supper club at Burns, will host a “board branding” from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 31. It will be held in the backyard patio. Branding irons and pots will be provided.
Recent rains have enabled vendors to continue offering garden produce, as well as baked goods, at the Farmers Market each Saturday morning.
The Peabody Community Band will perform at 7 p.m. in Santa Fe Park on Saturday.

Eunice Whittecar returned home last Thursday after some weeks of varied travel and visiting.
Gerald’s Country Kitchen was to open today, Thursday, Aug. 6, on the Highway 50 location at Poplar Street. Gerald and Mary Benshoof are proprietors of the eating establishment.
Garolyn Grossnickle, Lyn Hughes, and Chauncy Bird Hughes took a trip to Great Lakes, Ill. to attend Thomas Grossnickle’s graduation from the Great Lakes Naval Training Command.

The highest temperature recorded here since the summer of 1956 was 107 last Friday.
Davie Seibel, 10-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Seibel received a badly bruised left eye last Wednesday evening at the ball game at Halstead. Davie is batboy and was warming up before the game when he was hit by the ball.
Charles Porter injured a foot slightly while working with his tractor.

Rev. D.L. Moffett has been ill at his home for about 10 days with malarial fever.
E. L. Hoyt left Tuesday for a visit of two months with sisters and the family of his son, Hervey, at East Hiram, Maine.
Arnold Berns is in Texas this week on business.
