Students in Donna Hanneman’s first grade have undertaken an unusual project for Valentine’s Day. They have been reading the works of Douglas Wood, author of children’s books, and are sending him valentines in appreciation of his writing.
Gina Avery and Andrew Jacobs exchanged wedding vows at the 4:30 p.m., Sept. 29, 2002, in the First United Methodist Church at Valley Center.
Amy Bayes of Peabody has been chosen by South Central Library consultant Julie Tomlianovitch to help select the best in children’s literature for the year 2002.

Randy Robinson presented a program on the spectacular new Beech Starship at Kiwanis Monday night.
A recent issue of Time magazine pictured Kansas Sen. Robert Dole in a half-page picture. Former Peabody resident Mike Glassner, an aide to Dole, was shown standing beside the senator.
Ross Baker spoke to the third grade about Peabody on Kansas Day, Jan. 29.

Jack DeForest left Miami, Fla. Monday for Bogat, Columbia by air. He assumes his post as an economic adviser for the United States Operating Mission of the Agency for International Development in the country immediately.
Miss Beverly Klein of Wichita spent Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Klein.
In the work of putting the paper on the press last week the name of the little daughter of Lt. and Mrs. Craig Stallwitz was misspelled. The name is Christa Lanae.

Miss Ruth Haas won the gold bracelet awarded by J. C. Martin Saturday for the greatest gain since the previous award, and is now third in the list of aspirants for the piano.
The Mother’s Club and a few invited guests enjoyed a special program last Tuesday at the home of Mrs. J. S. Schroeder, celebrating Kansas Day.
Basketball at the rink this (Friday) evening. El Dorado High School boys vs. Peabody High School boys. Don’t forget the date — tonight!

Mrs. J. Sausser is preparing to open a new millinery shop in Peabody.
Two more Joker windmills were shipped to Beatrice, Nebraska last Saturday.
Dr. C. A. Loose has purchased an elegant Mason and Hamlin piano for the parlor of his fine residence. A recent improvement patented by that company gives their instrument a material advantage over any other in the market.
