Dorothy Helen Wade Widler

MARION — Dorothy Helen Wade Widler, 82, retired bank cashier and church secretary, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013.

She was born in Wichita, Kan., to Everett Wade and Cerece (Dowell) Wade. Dorothy attended and graduated from Burns High School with the class of 1948.

Dorothy also attended college at Bethany, Lindsborg, Kan., and worked at American Airlines in Tulsa, Okla.

Ronald Widler and Dorothy Wade were united in marriage on July 23, 1950, at Summit Church, near Burns, Kan.

Dorothy and Ronald made their home in Marion in 1956. Dorothy worked for Farmers & Drovers National Bank/Central National Bank for 37 years.

Following her retirement from the bank, she worked as a church secretary for Valley United Methodist Church. She had been a member of that church since 1958.

For the past few years, she was a member of Marion Presbyterian Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her husband. She is survived by one son, Steven Widler and his wife, Vanessa, of Washington, Iowa; and one daughter, Jeannie Wildin and her husband, Brad, of Marion, Kan.; grandchildren, Joshua Wildin and wife, Sara, of Wamego, Kan.; Clark Whitwell and her husband, Josh, of Ardmore, Okla.; Caren Thompson of Columbia, Mo.; Brandon Widler of Salina, Kan.; and Michele Prottsman and her husband, Jaden, of Riverside, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Jay Dee and Emily Schafers of Marion, Kan.; Jordan, Jacob, and Jerrid Whitwell of Ardmore, Okla.; Makenzie and Eva Wildin of Wamego, Kan., Adisyn and Joslyn Prottsman of Riverside, Iowa; and Justin Widler of Salina.

Services were held at Marion Presbyterian Church, Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 3 p.m., with Pastor Jeremiah Lange officiating, Laura Williams was the organist, and Keith Collett was the vocalist.
