According to fire and ambulance transmissions, monitored by the newspaper:

march 31

1:02 p.m. — Goessel first responders, Goessel firefighters, Hillsboro ambulance, and Peabody rescue responded to the vicinity of 70th and Diamond Rds. for what was described by the dispatcher as an “unknown accident” involving one vehicle. Upon arriving at the scene, a Goessel first responder reported the vehicle was unoccupied, and the response was terminated.

2:49 p.m. — Florence firefighters responded to a controlled burn that was out of control reported to be on 140th Rd. between Bluestem and Clover Rds. At 3:01 p.m. the dispatcher said the location given by the reporting party was in error and re-directed firefighters to 190th Rd. between Alfalfa and Clover Rds. Marion firefighters also were dispatched.

april 1

12:13 a.m. — Burns firefighters responded to a grass fire at NW 150th and NW Haverhill Rds. in Butler Co.

4:34 a.m. — A woman with back pain was transported by Hillsboro ambulance from 100th Rd. between Diamond and Eagle Rds. to Newton Medical Center.

8:52 a.m. — Hillsboro firefighters reported one brush truck en route to a controlled burn for what the transmission described as “precautionary reasons due to the wind possible today.”

11:53 a.m. — Marion ambulance was dispatched to the Wagon Wheel Café for an individual who was choking. At 11:54 a.m. the dispatcher reported the individual was sitting in a chair after application of the Heimlich maneuver by an unidentified individual. No transportation was provided.

12:38 p.m. — Marion firefighters were responded to a controlled burn that was out of control along US-77 between 230th and 240th Rds. Lincolnville firefighters initially were paged but were not available.

2:46 p.m. — Florence ambulance was paged to respond to 140th Rd. west of US-77 for a woman in her 50s having a seizure. At 2:48 p.m. Marion ambulance was dispatched when only one Florence EMT responded to the page. At 2:54 p.m. Florence ambulance reported it was halfway to the scene with a full crew, and Marion’s response was terminated. The newspaper’s system did not record additional transmissions with information about the resolution of the call.

6:04 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance, Peabody ambulance, and Goessel first responders and firefighters responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Commercial and Buller Sts. in Goessel. Peabody ambulance transported one individual to Newton Medical Center. Hillsboro ambulance reported no others at the scene were in need of transportation.

8:52 p.m. — A woman in her 50s with dehydration and weakness was transported by Marion ambulance from the 600 block of S. Freeborn St.

11:09 p.m. — Peabody ambulance provided advanced-life-support transportation of a patient from St. Luke Hospital to Newton Medical Center.

thursday

10:09 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was paged to provide advanced-life-support transportation, but no crew was available. Peabody ambulance was paged at 10:12 a.m., and a crew was not available. At 10:22 a.m., a transmission reported Peabody ambulance was en route. A patient from Hillsboro Community Hospital was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

7:32 p.m. — A woman in her 90s who fell and reported leg and hip pain was transported by Hillsboro ambulance from Parkview Assisted Living to Hillsboro Community Hospital.

9:56 p.m. — A patient at Hillsboro Community Hospital was transported by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

friday

3:29 p.m. — Goessel first responders were dispatched, at the request of McPherson County, to 28th Ave. north of 120th Rd. in McPherson County for a man in his 70s with bleeding. An ambulance from Moundridge was reportedly en route to handle the call. The newspaper’s system did not record additional transmissions regarding the resolution of the call.

11:23 p.m. — A woman with a possible broken ankle was transported by Hillsboro ambulance from Bethesda Homes in Goessel to Newton Medical Center.

No emergency dispatches were recorded.

sunday

1:51 p.m. — Lincolnville first responders and firefighters and Marion ambulance responded to a one-vehicle accident on US-77 north of 250th Rd. One individual was transported to St. Luke Hospital. The newspaper’s system did not record any transmissions regarding the nature or severity of injuries.

6:26 p.m. — An elderly man with a possible back injury was transported by Florence ambulance from the 100 block of Winfield St. in Burns to Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.

7:32 p.m. — A woman with breathing difficulties was transported by Hillsboro ambulance from the 200 block of S. Ash St. to Hillsboro Community Hospital.

9:36 p.m. — A man described by a dispatcher as “feeling ill, possibly diabetic related” was transported by Marion ambulance from the 800 block of Prairie Lawn St. in Peabody to Newton Medical Center. Peabody firefighters provided lifting assistance.

10:40 p.m. — A woman described by a dispatcher as having overdosed was transported by Hillsboro ambulance from Country Haven Inn to Hillsboro Community Hospital. At 11:24 p.m., Hillsboro ambulance reported initiating a transfer of a patient to St. Luke Hospital.

Monday

12:21 a.m. — A woman in her 60s who fell and was bleeding from her nose and mouth was transported by Marion ambulance from Peabody Care Center to Newton Medical Center. The ambulance was diverted to Wichita, and at 1:14 a.m. EMTs requested a Sedgwick County advanced-life-support unit to rendezvous with them en route. At 1:17 a.m. the dispatcher instructed the ambulance to exit the highway at 101st St., saying an ambulance would be there shortly. The newspaper’s system did not record any additional transmissions until Marion ambulance reported back at the station at 2:53 a.m.

1:19 p.m. — Marion ambulance transported a patient from Hillsboro Community Hospital to Prairie View in Newton.

2:02 p.m. — After a page for Florence ambulance was initially unsuccessful in getting two responders, Marion ambulance was dispatched to the 200 block of W. 10th St. in Florence for an unconscious male. At 2:32 p.m. Marion ambulance advised the dispatcher to show its status as “available as needed,” and at 2:47 p.m. returned to Marion. At 3:58 p.m. Florence firefighters were paged to the scene by the dispatcher to “assist the coroner,” suggesting the individual had died.

7:38 p.m. — Marion firefighters responded to a fire alarm at St. Luke Hospital. No fire was discovered.

9:27 p.m. — Goessel first responders and Hillsboro ambulance responded to 120th. Rd. between Goldenrod and Holly Rds. for a man in his 70s who fell. No transportation was provided.

9:56 p.m. — Peabody ambulance responded to mile marker 287 on US-50 near the Harvey County line for a woman with possible internal injuries resulting from her vehicle striking a deer. No transportation was provided.
