Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

may 15

4:05 p.m. — Peabody ambulance responded to the 300 block of Maple St. for a possible death. At 4:21 p.m., dispatchers reported a coroner was en route.

5:58 p.m. — A man in his 50s who was bleeding after falling in the 300 block of N. Olive St. was examined by Peabody ambulance personnel. He refused to be taken to a hospital.

6:42 p.m. — A man who fell at Westview Manor was taken to Newton Medical Center by Peabody ambulance.

7:21 a.m. — Tampa ambulance reported that an individual had refused transportation and that it was en route back to the station. No transmissions indicating destination or patient condition were recorded by the newspaper’s system.

8:23 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke Hospital was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka by Marion ambulance.

1:59 p.m. — A patient at Hillsboro Community Hospital was taken to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital in Wichita by Hillsboro ambulance.

thursday

5:34 p.m. — A smoke alarm in the 400 S. Jefferson St. at Tabor College townhomes was determined by Hillsboro firefighters to be a false alarm.

7:47 p.m. — A sheriff’s deputy requested Peabody fire and ambulance to stage at Mustang Rd. and US-50 after a woman involved in a domestic dispute threatened to start a fire. According to dispatchers, the woman allegedly slapped and hit both a husband and daughter, and also tried to choke the daughter. At 7:55 p.m., the deputy reported there was no fire, and Peabody fire was dismissed. The ambulance proceeded to the residence, where two individuals refused to be taken to a hospital.

10:47 p.m. — A man with chest pains at Salem Home was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

friday

7:55 a.m. — A woman who fell from a standing position in the 1500 block of Victory Ln. was assisted in getting up by Marion ambulance personnel. The woman was not taken to a hospital.

10:06 a.m. — Tampa, Hillsboro, and Marion ambulances, Durham fire and first responders, and Hillsboro rescue responded to a rollover accident on K-15 just north of Durham involving five or six people. At 10:12 a.m. a Durham firefighter reported that none of the six vehicle occupants were in the vehicle. At 10:42 a.m., Hillsboro ambulance reported that three people refused to be taken to a hospital, a fourth was not a patient, and that the ambulance was taking two individuals with minor injuries to HCH.

11:34 a.m. — Marion ambulance was dispatched to the 1500 block of Victory Ln. to take an individual to St. Luke per doctor’s orders. Ambulance personnel confirmed with the dispatchers that the address was not the same as a call earlier in the morning. After arriving at the scene, ambulance personnel reported the individual was being taken to Wesley Medical Center, not St. Luke.

3:33 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken to Newton Medical Center by Marion ambulance.

3:06 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters spent 1¾ hours checking city fire hydrants.

monday

11:36 a.m. — A woman in her 60s in the 500 block of S. Cedar St. received lifting assistance from Marion ambulance personnel. She was not taken to a hospital.

2:21 p.m. — Marion ambulance was placed on standby for a possible suicidal subject in the 200 block of N. Cedar St. At 2:23 p.m., a Marion officer reported that a coroner would be needed. At 2:28 p.m., ambulance personnel confirmed the individual was dead.

7:25 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken to Via Christi – St. Francis by Marion ambulance.

10:30 p.m. — A woman with difficulty breathing was taken from the 100 block of N. Washington St. to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
