MAY 20
11:34 a.m. — A Peabody firefighter helped lift a person who had fallen in the 300 block of Vine St. in Peabody.
3:11 p.m. — A 90-year-old woman coughing up blood at Salem Home in Hillsboro was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
5:18 p.m. — An 85-year-old woman with blood in a urinary catheter at Salem Home was transferred to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
6:32 p.m. — A 90-year-old woman with respiratory failure was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 9:16 p.m.
8:13 p.m. — A 78-year-old woman who fell on her hip at a home near 230th and Sunrise Rds. after having hip surgery earlier in the day was taken by Marion ambulance to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center. The ambulance returned to Marion at 10:57 p.m.
MAY 21
2:31 a.m. — A 5-year-old boy in respiratory distress was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Wesley Children’s Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 5:55 p.m.
12:02 p.m. — A cold and clammy 67-year-old man at Carlsons’ Grocery in Marion was taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, by Marion ambulance.
7:05 p.m. — A sparking power line near K-15 and140th Rd. was monitored by Goessel firefighters pending arrival of a Flint Hills Rural Electric crew at 7:40 p.m.
8 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to what appeared to be a false alarm at a location garbled by other transmissions
11:52 p.m. — A 98-year-old man having trouble breathing at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro was trsanferred to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. The county’s interim ambulance director also responded.
THURSDAY
11:41 a.m. — A 19-year-old woman needing cyst surgery was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health. The ambulance returned to Marion at 1:46 p.m.
1:54 p.m. — A reportedly uninjured 63-year-old woman on the floor of an apartment at Homestead Affordable Housing in Marion since a fall the day before was helped up by Marion ambulance attendants and declined to be taken to a hospital.
2:24 p.m. — An 89-year-old man was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health. The ambulance returned to Marion at 4:33 p.m.
2:45 p.m. — A woman lightheaded after a traffic accident on US-50 east of Turkey Creek Rd. declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
6:06 p.m. — A sheriff’s deputy initially asked for Hillsboro ambulance to check a driver having a seizure after a traffic stop at 190th and Nighthawk Rds. but called back to say the ambulance wouldn’t be needed because a passenger would drive the person to a hospital.
10:46 p.m. — A 62-year-old man with diabetic problems in the 700 block of Nickerson St. in Marion was taken by Marion ambulance in critical condition to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Marion at 1:55 a.m.
FRIDAY
7:59 a.m. — A 70-year-old man who fell at Salem Home assisted living in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
4:50 p.m. — A sheriff’s deputy, Marion firefighters, and Marion ambulance were dispatched to 190th and Zebulon Rds. after a cell phone that had been dropped created a false alarm indicating that a traffic accident had occurred there.
7:33 p.m. — A 78-year-old woman with gastrointestinal bleeding was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley. The ambulance returned to Marion at 10:03 p.m.
SATURDAY
12:16 a.m. — A 57-year-old man with cold sweats and trouble breathing at a home in the 100 block of S. Church St. in Goessel was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance. A Goessel first responder arrived within eight minutes and provided initial evaluation until the ambulance arrived 11 minutes after that. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 2 a.m.
1:22 p.m. — Marion ambulance attendants were alerted that when Hillsboro ambulance returned to the county at 1:48 a.m. Marion ambulance would be transferring a 44-year-old woman who might have suffered a stroke from St. Luke to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Marion at 4:07 a.m.
11:34 a.m. — Marion ambulance stood by until 3:59 p.m. at the Florence Grand Prix.
5:35 p.m. — A weak, 69-year-old man who slid out of a bed at a home in the 600 block of W. 7th St. in Lincolnville was taken to St. Luke by Tampa ambulance. A Lincolnville first responder provided initial evaluation until the ambulance arrived.
9:17 p.m. — Presumably the same patient, now diagnosed with excess sodium in his blood, was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley. The ambulance returned to Marion at 11:56 p.m.
SUNDAY
1:55 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance stood by at 130th Rd. and K-15 while sheriff’s deputies investigated a report of an emotionally disturbed person at an apartment in the 600 block of Marion Ave. in Goessel. The undescribed patient declined to be taken to a hospital.
7:52 a.m. — Marion ambulance and a backup ambulance stood by until at least 6:18 p.m. at the Florence Grand Prix.
9:29 a.m. — Flooded roadways were reported at 50th and Old Mill Rds., at Clover and 160th and 170th Rds., and at the low-water bridge on the northeast end of Marion County Lake.
2:12 p.m. — Medics aboard the backup ambulance evaluated an injured Grand Prix participant who did not want to be taken to a hospital.
8:10 p.m. — An 88-year-old woman with chest pains was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Kansas Heart. The ambulance returned to Marion at 11:15 p.m.
8:36 p.m. — A 69-year-old woman unable to move her leg after falling on a stair at a home in the 700 block of N. Sycamore St. in Peabody was taken to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance. Peabody firefighters helped lift the patient. Tampa ambulance stood by at the Hillsboro ambulance station until 10:06 p.m. in case of additional calls.
11:18 p.m. — The previous patient, now diagnosed with a broken hip, was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 1:58 p.m.
MONDAY
4:31 a.m. — A uninjured 63-year-old woman who fell an hour earlier at Homestead Affordable Housing in Marion was helped up by Marion ambulance attendants. She declined to be taken to a hospital.
3:44 p.m. — An 80-year-old man with what appeared to be diabetic complications was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Kansas Heart Hospital. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 6:09 p.m.
6:36 p.m. — An 86-year-old who may have suffered a stroke at Parkside Homes assisted living opted to go to HCH by private vehicle instead of Hillsboro ambulance.
