F. Glenn Phinney

F. Glenn Phinney, 83, of Overland Park died Sept. 4 in Merriam. He was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Belleville to Eugene and Beulah (Stephens) Phinney.

Glenn graduated from Hutchinson High School. He worked for Kansas Department of Transportation for more than 50 years at Hutchinson, Salina, Marion, and Olathe. He was the longest-tenured employee in the history of the state of Kansas at the time of his retirement in 1994.

After spending most of his adult life in Hutchinson, he married Dorellis “Dodie” Nelson on Oct. 2, 1980, and relocated to the Kansas City area.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Dodie; a daughter, Jacquelyn Mitchell of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; two stepsons, David Nelson and Roger Nelson, both of Lenexa; a stepdaughter, Marcia Fries of Olathe; a sister, Charyl Crutchfield of Yukon, Okla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services are scheduled for Saturday at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, from 2 to 4 p.m. Complete service details can be found online at http://www.cremationcenterkc.com.
