Fall athletes to be honored

Peabody-Burns High School athletic department will have a fall sports banquet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Brown Gymnasium.

Student athletes to be honored will be participants in cheerleading, cross-country, football, and volleyball.

This year the banquet will be a dessert banquet.

“Due to lack of funds, we will be trying something different,” Athletic Director Ray Savage said. “We ask that each family bring a dessert — cookies, cake, brownies, pie, cheesecake, any type of dessert — at approximately 6:45 p.m.

“The desserts will be placed on a common table, available to all from 7 to 7:15 p.m.”

Savage said the athletic department will supply drinks, napkins, utensils, plates, cups, and ice cream.

Coaches’ comments and presentations will follow the banquet.

“As always, we ask that everyone remember this is a banquet and dress accordingly,” Savage added.

After the banquet, parents of students interested in going out for basketball will have a meeting to discuss insurance, physicals, medical releases, and allow coaches to discuss their programs. The meeting will begin at approximately 8 p.m. and last about half an hour.

Anyone with questions or concerns should contact Savage at PBHS (620) 983-2196 or on his cell phone (620) 382-4377.
