Famous rejections
Gracepoint Church, Peabody
Did you know that Jim Davis, creator of “Garfield,” was told that his comic strip would never succeed because of the popularity of Snoopy. “Too many animals, and cats don’t sell.”
Frank L. Baum’s “Wizard of Oz” was rejected because it was “too radical of a departure from traditional juvenile literature.”
Even William Shakespeare and Steven King were rejected.
These examples came from a blog by Steve Laube, an agent who represents many Christian fiction authors. He’s even confessed to his own mistakes in judgment when he rejected an author’s project that went on to be an awarding-winning book.
Fair or unfair, rejection happens. Sometimes we receive it and sometimes we give it.
But God isn’t like us — and that’s a good thing. He has perfect knowledge and perfect love. No one who comes to Him through Jesus will be rejected. And Jesus said that, “the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.” (John 6:37).
We don’t have to fear rejection when we come to God in faith. He always receives those who know they need a Savior. Is that you?
