Frank Bowen

Frank Clifford Bowen, 88, passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at his home in Peabody, Kan., where he lived with Shirley Strotkamp, his companion of more than 50 years.

He was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Morris, Okla. He was a World War II Army veteran under Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower. He served his country from 1943 to 1945 as a guard-patrolman for the headquarters of the Ninth Army in England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He received a Good Conduct medal.

He took great pride in retiring at the age of 57 after 42 years of service with Phillips Oil as a pipeliner. He was a 54-year member of the American Legion.

One of his greatest joys was being a lifelong New York Yankees fan.

Services were Saturday, Aug. 3, at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Cleo Bowen; a brother, Ronnie Boston; and a sister, Peggy Baker.

Living relatives include his son, Terry Bowen; a brother, Carlos Girk; and two sisters, Geraldine Glenn and Erma Nellans.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
