HOPE IN THE HEARTLAND:   Freedome for what

Gracepoint Church, Peabody

One of the great truths of Christianity is that Jesus came to set us free from sin and the death it brings. He breaks chains that bind us, removes sin that condemns us, and conquers shame that haunts us. He liberates our souls.

Knowing what we are freed from is important. But, have you ever wondered what we were freed for? The answer is simple: love. We were freed to love God and love others. In Galatians 5:13-14, Paul wrote that Christ came to set us free, but that freedom wasn’t given so we could pursue our own selfish agendas. Rather, we are called to live out our freedom by loving and serving each other.

We are free when we love God and love others. It’s how God intended us to live. It is what He created us to do. And we can find true freedom only through faith in Jesus, who promised that when He sets us free, we are free indeed.

Are you really free?
