Jon Gard was inducted into the Greater Wichita Officials Association Hall of Fame on April 3.

Gard was a basketball official for the Kansas State High School Athletic Association for 36 years. During that time, he worked for several high school leagues in central Kansas. Among them were the Wichita City League, Ark Valley League, Chisholm Trail League, and Central Plains League.

He officiated at 28 sub-state tournaments and 22 state tournaments.

Gard also worked at the college level for many years, officiating in the KJCCC, the KCAC, and the MCAC leagues.

He retired from officiating in 2005.

More than 100 officials and their families attended the banquet at the Wichita Boat House. In attendance to see his award were his wife, Carolyn, his two daughters, his son-in-law, and his four grandchildren.
