Marion girls’ golf team placed second Thursday at the Council Grove Invitational, its first 18-hole tournament this season.
The Warriors’ second-place result was the program’s first podium finish.
Vyolett Dawson finished in fourth individually to lead the team, while Carlynn Johnson and Hazel Bowman placed 14th and 15th.
“Both girls earned their first individual medals,” coach Max Venable said.
The Warriors stayed on the road Monday when they traveled to Clay Center and picked up a sixth-place finish as a team.
Dawson tied for 15th individually, and Sybil Bowman tied for 27th.
Marion will play host for its first golf tournament at 9 a.m. Monday at Marion Country Club. Junior varsity and varsity will compete at the same time in a “more team-oriented format,” Venable said.
