Gustav 'Gus' Hiebert

Gustav “Gus” Hiebert, 88, of Little River, died Tuesday at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. He was a retired construction worker and backhoe operator.

He was born May 23, 1924, in Goessel to Peter and Sara (Schmidt) Hiebert. He married Opal E. (Morgan) Hunley on July 3, 1965, in Huntsville, Ark. She preceded him in death on July 23, 1982.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Herman Hiebert; a sister, Elvina Schultz; and two stepsons, Ray and Marvin Hunley.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Bertha “Bert” Long of Windom; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tabor Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Newton. There will be no visitation.

Memorial funds have been established for Sandstone Heights Nursing Home and Windom Senior Center
