Health fair draws crowd, blood

Staff writer

Many Marion County residents turned out for the 2016 Health Fair Saturday.

The blood draw section collected 88 samples for testing and vendors had plenty of visitors.

Sonovision, Inc. performed 58 thyroid and carotid artery scans, finding eight abnormalities. They encouraged patrons to follow up with a medical professional.

New this year was a booth to collect toys for Marion County Toy Run.

“This is the first year we have done this, so we were very grateful have some toys to donate,” said Roger Schroeder, marketing director for St. Luke Hospital and Living Center.

“All in all, we were happy with the way the health fair turned out,” Schroeder said. “We got a lot of positive feedback from both our vendors and patrons.”

Also making appearances were Sparkey the Fire Dog and Smokey the Bear.
