Hillsboro police

Aug. 12: An officer confronted subjects attempting to take traffic cones. Officers assisted sheriff with an investigation; a vehicle stolen from rural Marion was found in Hillsboro.

Aug. 13: A person reported an attempted phone scam.

Aug. 14: A report of suspicious activity was filed for Hillsboro Community Hospital; the subject had also frequented several other hospitals. An out-of-control child was reported in the 200 block of South Washington Street; mental health workers were called to assist. A trespass complaint was filed in the 900 block of East Grand Avenue; the person reported someone may have entered her residence while she was gone.

Aug. 15: A person in the 900 block of East D Street reported the possible loss of some of her medication.

Friday: A person reported a subject displaying a firearm in a business in the 600 block of North Ash St; he had a concealed carry permit, but was lifting up shirt and making people nervous, Hillsboro Police Chief Dan Kinning said; Kinning said the man had not done anything wrong and advised the business to post a sign prohibiting concealed weapons on the premises. A hit and run accident was reported in the 400 block of South Cedar Street; the suspect vehicle was later located south of Hillsboro on Indigo Road. Officers assisted the Kansas Highway Patrol with a driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol case.
