Approaching a century of celebration, the 94th annual festival claims the largest ground display of fireworks in Kansas. A large number of aerial displays are set off, too.

Attendees can expect a carnival, parade, food vendors, horseshoe tournament, water games, and children’s games prior to evening fireworks.

Festivities will likely spill over into Peabody City Park where there is ample playground equipment and picnic space for patrons.

Redneck in Ramona

Learn the true meaning of “redneck” or, at least, a quaint town’s interpretation of it. Attendees often dress the part.

A redneck run begins at 8 a.m., a redneck-themed parade starts at 6 p.m., and fireworks launch at dark. Expect to see lawnmower races or take part in a three-on-three basketball tournament.

Aulne United Methodist Church puts on this annual family celebration.

The event kicks off with music by “Bob and the Boys” at 6:30 p.m., ice cream and desserts at 7:30 p.m., and fireworks at dark.

Food also will be served for a free-will donation.

Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and bug spray.
