James A. Goddard

James A. “Jim” Goddard, son of Otto O. and Irene (Poland) Goddard, was born May 21, 1945, in Marion, Kan. He passed from his earthly life on Saturday Sept. 1, 2012, at the age of 67 in the Via Christi St. Francis Hospital Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Inpatient Unit. in Wichita, Kan.

He married Belita A. Winchester on Nov. 15, 1964, in Maize, Kan. Jim was a retired police officer for the city of Peabody, Kan.

He is survived by his wife, Belita; daughter, Robin Stukey, and her husband Gregg; son, Steve Goddard, and his wife Nancy all of Newton, Kan.; former son-in-law, Steve Clements of Wichita; grandchildren Dylan Clements, Garrett Goddard, and Sydney Goddard, all of Newton; step-grandchildren Kayla Stukey of Newton and Nichole Stukey of Marion; sisters, Ellen Hein and Shirley Williams both of Roseburg, Ore. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard and Phillip Goddard; and sisters Mary Steele and Marjorie Branson.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Sadowski presiding. Cremation has taken place and a private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice inpatient until at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
