Lady Warriors struggle in first game

The freezing temperatures were not the only thing that was cold on opening night of Peabody-Burns High School Lady Warrior basketball 2013-14. The squad was defeated at home by Chase County 62-10.

Up next for the team is an appearance in the Marion Classic with games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thursday they will take on Eureka at 4 p.m. and Friday they will compete against Remington at 7 p.m.

Games Saturday will be determined by results of pool play on Thursday and Friday.

Chase County scored 22 points in the first quarter of the game. PBHS went scoreless.

The Lady Bulldogs added an additional 17 points in the second quarter, the Lady Warrior offense remained at zero. Chase County led 39-0 at the half.

Christa Elliott put PBHS on the board with a 2-point field goal in the third, adding another 2-point basket during the period. Brianna Larsen also got on the board with 2 baskets.

Chase County scored 12 and led 51-8 at the end of three.

Larsen put in one more basket in the fourth. The Lady Bulldogs added 11. PBHS lost 62-10.

Larsen led the offense with 6 points. Elliott had 4.
