Staff writer

Brandee Burnett scored a tying basket in the final 28 seconds of regulation Dec. 18 against Centre that led to a 48-46 overtime victory for the Lady Warriors.

Centre maintained a slight lead until Warrior Rayna Barnes scored a tying basket with less than 3 minutes remaining in the final quarter.

Burnett made the first two of nine unanswered points for the Warriors in overtime before Centre’s Shelby Makovec made a shot with 27 seconds remaining. After Burnett added one from the line, Makovec made a trey and a free throw and Beka Basore added two to close the gap with two seconds remaining.

Bryanna Svoboda stole the incoming pass and barely missed making a game-winning shot at the buzzer.

Leading scorers for Peabody-Burns were Burnett, 13, Paige Lewis, 12, and Barnes, 11.

Makovec led Centre scoring with 18 points, followed by Basore with 13.
