Marion spring play this Thursday and Friday

Staff writer

Marion High School will have performances of “If a Man Answers” Thursday and Friday for its spring musical.

JayDee Schafers and Isaac Baldwin star in the three-act comedy. In the play, a wife receives the secret to a happy marriage from her mother — a dog training manual. The wife proceeds to train her husband until he is tipped off by her friend.

“The audience always enjoys a comedy,” play director Janet Killough said. “It’s going to be a fun play.”

Nick Meyer and Andrea Nordquist are set to play the couple’s mother and father. Jennifer Fruechting will play the couple’s friend.

Killough said she picked the play with Schafers and Baldwin in mind. While this will be their last performance in high school, Schafers received a scholarship in theater and music at Butler County Community College and Baldwin is also planning on studying music in college. She said most of the prominent roles in the play are filled by seniors. There are 17 students in the cast.

“They’ve shared this is the last time they’ll be on stage, this is the last performance,” Killough said of the senior students. “They’ve all been very active.”

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. in the USD 408 Performing Arts Center. Tickets will be sold at the door, $3 for adults and $2 for children 12 years old and younger.
