Morris leads Peabody-Burns golf

Staff writer

Tommy Morris led Peabody-Burns golf team members to a seventh place finish April 25 at Sedgwick. Cold weather has wrecked havoc on team practices and competitions, but Morris shot a 92 and placed 20th individually.

“The whole team was much improved over the first tournament,” Coach Jim Pohlman said. “Tommy, as leader, is playing real good. With his length he plays short irons into most holes.”

Other Warriors filling out the Peabody-Burns score card at Pretty Prairie were McKenzie Ensminger at 105, Cierra Foth at 116, and Brooks Hodges at 117.

“Our team shot over thirty strokes less this tournament than the first,” Pohlman said. “This a great bunch of young people. They never quit trying to improve. Our putters seem to be a little cold, but I think that will get better with more play under our belts.”

The Warriors competed at the Marion golf tournament on Tuesday but scores were not available at press time.
