Music students entertain Sorosis Beta members

Sorosis Beta Club met March 21 in the home of Virginia Skinner. Theme for the evening program was “The Sound of Music.” Virginia introduced nine Peabody-Burns Junior High students who performed musical numbers for the club. The students all received a 1 or 2+ at the Wheat State League music festival.

Refreshments of chocolate cake, nuts, and candies were served by the hostess and co-hostess, Virginia Skinner and Faye Stucky.

President Arleen Moffet presided over the meeting. Members repeated the club collect. For devotional time, Faye Stucky shared an “Easter Story” by Marilyn Ferguson.

Janie Hodges reported that the April meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 18 at the Peabody United Methodist Church. Hostess and co-hostess will be Janie Hodges and Norma Patton. Linda Martinez will give a program on beauty tips. The election of the 2013-14 officers will be held.

Nine members answered roll call by sharing the musical instrument or vocal group in which they participated when they were in school.

The door prize was won by Marquetta Eilerts.

Arleen closed the meeting by reading an article, “The Sounds of Music” from the book “50 Things That Really Matter.” The group repeated the Sorosis Beta Pledge and the meeting was adjourned.
