PBHS boys beat Goessel, girls lose

The Peabody-Burns boys’ team won in their first Wheat State League game Tuesday leading all quarters against Goessel 12-7, 26-15, 34-27 to finally win 47-44. 

The Warriors survived a Bluebirds rally in the fourth quarter with free throws.

Kornelius Skotaam led Peabody-Burns scoring with 10 followed by Braxton Kyle and Junior Edmondson with 9 points each.

The Warriors boys are now 2-6 overall and 1-0 in Wheat State League games.

Lady Warriors struggle

In their first Wheat State League game, the lady Warriors tangled with the Bluebirds who are ranked fifth in the State in 1A Div. I by Kansas Basketball Coaches Association.

Peabody-Burns jumped out to a 7-4 lead, but Goessel led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead at halftime 31-13.  The Warriors put in 11 points in the third quarter and trailed 40-24. Goessel won 58-32.

Katy Benson led Peabody-Burns in scoring with 11 points.

 The Lady Warriors are now 1-6 overall and 0-1 in Wheat State League games.
