PBHS boys win 1st track meet

The senior boys for the Peabody-Burns track and field team combined for seven first-place finishes April 2 at the Herington Central Kansas Track League meet. The Warrior boys won the meet against four other teams.

Lucas Larsen swept the throwing events winning the discus with a throw of 117 feet, 2 inches; javelin, 154-8; and shot put, 37-9. Fellow senior, Jayden Miller, placed third in the discus, 97-9.

Zach Preheim won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.8 seconds — Braxton Kyle, 49.2, and Colton Glenn, 54.9, placed second and third in the event.

Seth Topham won the 110 hurdles, 17.4, with Preheim finishing second, 18.5. Tohpam also won the 800, 2:22.5. Topham added a second place finish in the high jump, 6-0, tying a personal best, followed by Kyle, 5-10.

Preheim and Topham ran the two fastest legs of the first place 4x400 relay race. The team, including freshmen Cody Partridge and Corbin Rives, ran a time of 3:56.2.

The 4x800 team of Rives, Dakota Reynolds, Christian Chastain, and Nick Schrock placed second with a time of 10:39.7.

For the girls’ team, the 4x800 team of Brandee Burnett, Karolina Ganko, Carlee Wentworth, and Kenzie Young placed second, 13:24.3. Burnett ran the fastest time leading off the race, 3:00.

Wentworth also placed third in the javelin, 6-4.
