Peabody athletes earn recognition

Eight Peabody-Burns athletes earned Wheat State all-league honors for the 2013-14 season. Three Lady Warriors and five Warriors earned recognition for their individual performances.

Kaycy Gonzalez and Katy Benson earned second team all-league volleyball honors. Alyssa Brooks earned honorable mention.

Fred Winsor, Braxton Kyle, Xavier Jabary and Clayton Philpott earned first team honors in football, while Kyle Seeney received honorable mention recognition.

For the season, Gonzalez had 158 kills, 14 blocks, and 134 digs. Benson had 83 kills, 228 assists, 33 blocks, and 110 digs. Brooks had 33 kills, 13 blocks, and 154 digs.

Winsor had 166 carries for 1,353 yards and 22 scores. He caught 15 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown. He also recorded 55 tackles. Kyle was 52-for-108 passing for 804 yards. He carried the ball 137 times for 657 yards and 9 touchdowns. On defense, he earned 43 tackles.

Jabary led the defense with 90 tackles and 7.5 sacks, and 683 kickoff return yards. Philpott rushed 24 times for 261 yards and 5 scores. He caught 11 passes for 212 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also had 51 tackles on defense.

Seeney carried the ball 50 times for 197 yards 3 scores. He caught 4 passes for 34 yards and a touchdown. He also had 65 tackles for the defense.
