Peabody-Burns falls short against Centre

Tuesday night basketball was a couple of easy wins for Centre teams.

The girls’ team started by defeating Peabody-Burns 51-18 at home.

The Cougars broke out early with a 12-5 lead in the first quarter before expanding that lead by another 21 points at the half.

Leading Lady Cougar scorers were Cacey Simons with 12 points, Shelby Makovec with 11 points, Amy Makovec with 6 points and Bryanna Fvoboda with 7 points.

Leading scorers for the Warriors were Christa Elliott with 4 points and Katy Benson with 6.

Warrior boys lose

The boys’ basketball team added another win, defeating Peabody-Burns.

The Cougars had a 16-7 lead in the first quarter, going up by 23 points at halftime.

The Warriors improved their shooting in the second half, but it was a little too late as Centre defeated Peabody-Burns 67-47.

Top Centre shooters were Ty Simons with 39 points and Conner Montgomery with 9.

Leading Warrior scorers were Xavier Jabary with 14 points and Garret Schroeder with 13.
