Peabody-Burns girls come up short at Marion Classic

Lady Warrior basketball lost three games at the Marion Classic. Eureka came out on top on Thursday in game one, beating the PBHS squad 34-23. Friday, Remington bested the Lady Warriors 61-23. Saturday, the PBHS team was defeated by Belle Plaine 37-29. Up next for the Lady Warriors are trips to Burrton and also a trip to Berean Academy.

Eureka

Alex Lewis had the only two points for PBHS in the first quarter. Eureka scored 15.

PBHS offense improved in the second quarter with six points from Brianna Larsen and a free throw from Benson. The PBHS defense held Eureka to five points. PBHS trailed 20-9 at the half.

Benson and Larsen combined for four points in the third. Eureka put up six. The Lady Warriors were down 26-13 at the end of three.

PBHS had the most production in the fourth with 10 points. Christa Elliott and Larsen each made 3-pointers. Lewis and Jordan Gibson each added two. Eureka scored eight. PBHS lost 34-23.

Gibson had nine rebounds in the contest. Larsen had seven.

Scoring

Larsen, 11; Lewis, 4; Elliott, 3; Benson, 3; and Gibson, 2.

Remington

Elliott and Lewis combined for four points in the first quarter. Remington put up 13.

The Lady Broncos caught fire and scored 21 points in the second quarter. Elliott had the only PBHS basket in the period. The Lady Warriors trailed 34-6 at the half.

PBHS offense came back after the break, adding 13. However, Remington continued to score, adding 21 in the third. Elliott paced the quarter scoring with seven, including a three. Lewis added four and Larsen had a 2-point basket.

Elliott added two more in the fourth. Gibson got on the board also with two. Remington defeated the PBHS squad 61-23.

Larsen had seven rebounds. Benson had five assists.

Scoring:

Elliott, 13; Lewis, 6; Larsen, 2; and Gibson, 2.

Belle Plaine

Both offenses were cold in the first. Belle Plaine had the 6-4 edge at the end of the quarter. Benson and Lewis combined for four.

Lady Warrior offense picked up in the second, adding 12 points. Benson led with four from the free-throw line. Elliott and Larsen each made threes. Lewis had two. PBHS had the 16-15 edge at halftime.

Belle Plaine’s offense outscored the Lady Warriors 14-7 in the third. The Lady Warriors trailed 29-23 at the end of three. Lewis had four points and Benson had a 3-pointer in the quarter.

Larsen added four in the fourth. Elliott tacked on two from the line. Belle Plaine tacked on eight. PBHS lost 37-29.

Gibson had 11 rebounds and Larsen had seven.
