Peabody Senior Center will host a Veterans Day celebration on Friday after lunch.

“We hope people will come and honor our veterans,” said site manager Ruth Lott. “And, of course we want the veterans there as well.”

The local board meeting will be Monday.

“Bingo is coming back on Nov. 13 after lunch,” Lott said. “We have some treats left over from Halloween so no one needs to bring prize treats this time. Just come on down and enjoy some fun.”

Next week the center will switch peppernut baking to Wednesday instead of Thursday. The center will be hosting the Marion County Board Meeting on Nov. 16 and will need to prepare for that on the day they would regularly be baking peppernuts.

Lott encourages seniors to attend the county board meeting. “It always offers a tremendous amount of information relevant to senior citizens,” she said.

The center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All seniors are welcome for lunch and whatever program is presented. Be sure to call in advance to reserve a meal so the staff prepares enough food.

To volunteer at the center, to reserve a meal, or to request Meals on Wheels delivery, call (620) 983-2226.
