“Dr. Randolph Whitely has rejoined our community and will be joining us at the noon meal on Dec. 4,” said Peabody Senior Center site manager, Ruth Lott. “He will introduce himself and his practice to those of us who do not know him and get reacquainted with those he treated when he was here before.

“We want everyone to come and greet him and make him welcome as we will greatly benefit with a doctor in town again.”

Seniors can listen to an informative and entertaining talk by Nancy Pihl after the noon meal on Dec. 4.

The December birthday luncheon will be Dec. 11 and everyone is encouraged to help celebrate by attending the meal.

A covered dish lunch will be held on Dec. 18 followed by Vada Ann McPheeters entertaining the group on the piano after lunch.

A popular event every December is the annual Christmas Light Tour. The school will provide a bus to take seniors and residents of both Peabody Care Center and Westview Manor around to see all the Christmas lights. The bus leaves at 6 p.m. and the group hopes people will remember to turn on their lights at their homes and businesses for the tour.

Afterward everyone will return to the center for Christmas cookies, hot cocoa or coffee and Christmas music by Sonja Koslowsky.

Lott reminds members to check their calendars during this busy holiday season and make plans to attend some events at the center. Reservations are requested so that the staff can be sure to have enough food for everyone.

To reserve meals or have them delivered, call (620) 983-2226 and leave a message if necessary.

The center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All seniors are welcome for lunch and the accompanying programs.
