CORRESPONDENTS:   Peabody Senior Center

“We appreciate everyone who comes to eat with us and participate in our activities,” said senior center site manager Ruth Lott. “However, at this time of the year, we need to remind everyone that if we don’t have more people eating with us, we will be in danger of losing our center.

“Peabody Senior Center is a vital part of our community and serves the needs of our older residents,” she added.

Lunch is served at 11:45 a.m.each day. Anyone is welcome to eat at the center as long as a reservation is made to be sure the staff prepares enough food.

“Call the center at (620) 983-2226 to reserve a meal,” said Lott. “After hours, leave a message on the answering machine.”

“A suggested contribution of $3.15 will buy lunch for those 60 or older. All others are welcome to eat a balanced meal with a drink and dessert for $5,” she said.

Peabody Senior Center will host a Bingo game immediately after lunch on Thursday. Those planning to play should bring a candy bar for the prize basket

Lenten services are being held right after lunch every Wednesday. A clergyman or spiritual leader from the community offers devotions each week. On Feb. 27, Jim Truax will host the service.

Volunteers also are appreciated at the center. Anyone with a few hours to give is welcome to help in any of several capacities. Contact Lott at (620) 983-2226 or stop by the center at 106 N. Walnut for more information.
